Reverend Rod Curry, age 77 of DeFuniak Springs passed away Tuesday evening, July 16, 2019 in Chautauqua Health and Rehabilitation Center. He was born April 11, 1942 in Mobile, Alabama the son of Adrian Roderick Curry, Sr. and Clara Elizabeth Duffee Cury. Rod was ordained as a minister with the United Methodist Church, South Alabama/Northwest Florida Conference and served many churchs in his tenure as pastor, his last appointments being in Atlanta, then Starr, South Carolina, Sneeds, Florida, Theodore, Alabama and his last appointment, Center Ridge United Methodist Church in
DeFuniak Springs until his retirement. Rod had a deep and abiding faith in his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and his love of God and the assurance of God’s love for him gave him strength and a boldness to serve his master all of his life.
Among survivors are his wife, Shirley, his daughter, Christi Lynn Curry Colabianchi, his sons Brian Keith Curry Pope, Ralph Allen (Trisha), John Allen (Lavon), Kenneth Allen (Denise); nine grandchildren, Angelo, Serena, Hobie, Christopher, Timothy,Whitney, Jennifer, Kenny and Kaitlyn. Seven great grandchildren and his sister Linda Carol Curry Miller and husband Pat also survive.
Those asked to serve as pallbearers are James Cook, Adrian Gillis, Dan McInnis, Nick Ramos, Ralph Allen, John Allen and Kenneth Allen.
Memorials may be made in Reverend Rod Curry's memory to Center Ridge United Methodist Church. A time of visitation will be Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10 until 11 A.M. in Center Ridge United Methodist Church, 1861 County Highway 1883, DeFuniak Springs, Florida 32433 with the funeral beginning at 11:00 A.M. in the church with Reverend Geary Rowell officiating.
