Clyde ChandlerJanuary 15, 1952 ~ December 1, 2008 (age 56)
Mr. Clyde Alan Chandler, age 56 of Wing, Alabama, formerly of DeFuniak Springs, passed away Monday, December 1, 2008 in Santa Rosa Medical Center in Milton, Florida. He was born January 15, 1952 on Eglin Air Force Base the son of Clyde Craven Chandler and Alice Joan (Pat) Hanus Chandler. Alan was a graduate of Walton High School, graduating with the Class of 1970. He joined the United States Army, was a veteran of the Vietnam Crisis and retired as Sergeant First Class. After retirment Clyde and his wife accepted the position of Lake Manager with the Alabama Department of Conservation where they managed Leon Brook Hines Public Lake in Escambia County Alabama for some ten years, a job Alan thoroughly enjoyed because of his love of nature. Like his father before him, Alan loved life and lived every single moment being a “people person”, never meeting a stranger, and always leaving those he came into contact with a smile on their face.
Among survivors are his wife Vici J. Mims Chandler, his sisters and brother, Cynthia Chandler Anderson and husband Mark; David Chandler and wife Connie; Karen Chandler Cummings and husband Jeff; Shirley Chandler Legette and husband Keith; and Krisy Chandler Spence and husband Keith. His sister-in-law Nelia Ann White and husband Pete and his brother-in-law Merle A. Parker. His nieces and nephews, Myca and husband Josh; Kristopher and wife Megan; Laura; Shanna; Alison and husband Austin; Ashley; Richard; Kyle; Justin; Madison; Matther; Lisa and husband Kevin; Nicole; Rachel; Kathryn; Justin; Jarad; Jeffrey; Brent and many grand nieces and nephews. Also surving is Payton Brook Ward whom Alan loved liked a daughter.
Memorials may be made in Alan’s memory to The American Cancer Society, 4 Jackson Street N.E., Ft. Walton Beach, Florida 32546. Services will be held at a later date to be announced.
